The highlight of any stay at Rushaga Gorilla Lodge is trekking through Bwindi Impenetrable Forest to spend a magical hour with a habituated mountain gorilla family in their natural habitat. The lodge is located just minutes from the Rushaga trekking headquarters.
Rushaga is the only sector of Bwindi where visitors can participate in the unique Gorilla Habituation Experience, allowing up to four hours with a semi-habituated gorilla family alongside researchers and rangers.
Meet the Batwa people, the original forest inhabitants of Bwindi, and learn about their traditional hunting techniques, medicinal plants, music, dance, storytelling, and ancient way of life.

Rushaga Gorilla Lodge is located in the Rushaga sector of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, just a short drive from the Uganda Wildlife Authority briefing point, making it one of the most convenient lodges for gorilla trekking and gorilla habituation experiences.
By road, the lodge can be reached from Kigali (Rwanda) in approximately 4–5 hours or from Entebbe/Kampala in 8–10 hours. By air, scheduled domestic flights operate to Kisoro Airstrip, followed by a road transfer to the lodge.
Standard lodge check-in is from 1:00 PM, while check-out is by 10:00 AM, though booking platforms may display slightly different operational times. Guests are advised to confirm timings when making reservations.
Gorilla trekking is available year-round, but the dry seasons (June–September and December–February) offer easier hiking conditions. The wetter months provide lush scenery, fewer visitors, and excellent birdwatching opportunities.
