Day by Day Journey
- Day 1
Arrival Kigali
Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be met by our representative, outside the airport arrivals section and transferred to your hotel.
- Day 2
Kigali/Nyungwe Forest National Park
Breakfast at the hotel. Enjoy a City Tour of Kigali (Cost Included) The history of Rwanda dates back centuries, Kigali has been a part of it for 100 years. Founded in 1907 as a German settlement, Kigali did not become the capital until Rwanda’s independence in 1962 when it replaced the colonial seat of power in Butare. Visit the old Kigali and the craft centres then visit the genocide memorial site. Learn about Rwanda’s history from pre-colonial times to the 1994 genocide; learn about other genocides in the world and how this country has dealt with that past. Tour more and see the new developments in Rwanda; the recovery has been incredible, a testament to humankind’s resilience. Then drive south for a visit of the historical towns of Nyanza and Butare. Visit the Nyanza Kings Palace and the Huye ethnographic museum. Lunch enroute. Proceed to your lodge.
- Day 3
Nyungwe Forest National Park - Chimpanzee Trek
04h30: Start early for early morning forest nature walk in the park tracking Chimpanzees in the forest. This is the time to watch the forest’s birdlife too. Return to the lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, enjoy the canopy walk. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight.

Kigali
Breakfast at the lodge. Drive back to Kigali – with onward transfer to the airport for your outbound flight. Flights after 1900Hrs are recommended(Cost of flight not included)

Practical Information
Early Morning Chimpanzee Tracking
Chimpanzee tracking excursions typically start very early, often before sunrise, as chimpanzees are most active during the morning hours.
Prepare for Forest Hiking
Many activities involve walking on forest trails that can be steep, muddy, and slippery. Comfortable hiking boots and a moderate level of fitness are recommended.
Weather Can Change Quickly
Nyungwe is a tropical montane rainforest where rain can occur at any time of the year. Carry a lightweight waterproof jacket and protect electronic equipment from moisture.
Essential Packing List
Pack waterproof hiking boots, long-sleeved clothing, rain gear, insect repellent, sunscreen, a hat, binoculars, a camera, and a reusable water bottle.
Travel Time and Access
Nyungwe National Park is located in southwestern Rwanda and is usually reached by road from Kigali. The scenic drive takes approximately 5–6 hours through Rwanda's beautiful countryside and tea-growing regions.
