Prime Crater-Rim Location
The lodge is located on the eastern rim of the Ngorongoro Crater, providing quick access to the crater descent road for early morning game drives and maximizing time on the crater floor.
Altitude & Weather
Situated at over 2,200 metres above sea level, the crater rim experiences cool temperatures year-round, especially at night and in the early morning. Warm clothing, a fleece, and a light jacket are highly recommended.
Easy Access to the Crater
Guests can be among the first vehicles descending into the crater when gates open at 6:00 AM, offering excellent wildlife viewing opportunities before the area becomes busier.
Road Access & Transfers
The lodge is typically reached by road from Arusha via Karatu, or by scheduled flights into Lake Manyara Airstrip followed by a road transfer to the crater rim. The journey from Arusha takes approximately 3–4 hours.
What to Pack
Bring warm layers for chilly mornings and evenings, comfortable walking shoes, binoculars, a camera, sunscreen, and a hat. Weather can change quickly on the crater rim, with misty mornings common throughout the year.
